The client
Jan Stenborg is an independent Swedish novelist, born in Stockholm in 1955 and now living on the French Riviera. He writes historical adventure novels set in the Viking age: the trilogy of Erik of Birka, with Stridslarm (2017), Jagad (2021) and Kungablod, which completes it. Before writing, he founded Stonecastle, a company making pedalboards and guitar accessories sold in around ten countries.
What we built
- A site in Swedish and English, with a language switch on every page.
- A home page devoted to the new novel, Kungablod, with the next book signing.
- The trilogy presented book by book: year, publisher, page count, synopsis, highlights from the contents and links to buy or listen (Adlibris, Bokus, Storytel), with a free audio sample.
- Events, with add-to-calendar, map, sharing and a downloadable poster.
- Jan's story, a blog and an FAQ.
- Contact by email and a link to Facebook.
Design choices
A dark, gold world in the spirit of the covers: the new cover is shown as a framed object, and the site's main sections are numbered in Roman numerals, like the chapters of a book. The tone is that of a saga, without ever hiding what matters: the next event and where to find the books.
